So I almost feel settled in to the new place – almost. Once everything is put together, including our living room which doesn’t have a lick of furniture, I’ll feel a bit more at home. My room is really coming together! Once it’s clean and totally decorated, I’ll take a bunch of pictures to post 🙂
Something really cool, that native Brooklyn-ers of 40+ years dubbed very “New York”, happened to me Sunday and if you follow me on Twitter you’ll know!
I went home to Syracuse this past weekend to load up my car with some kitchen essentials, i.e. a microwave, toaster, pots, pans, etc. And of course, caught a little SU Football tailgating with the fam.
Top picture is the grents, middle is my cousin who’s a freshmen at SU and bottom is my favorite man in the entire world 🙂 I didn’t go to the game because I had tons to do but I couldn’t miss out on tailgating fun 😉 There was plenty of booze but I ran 5.5 that morning and it was only 11:30 a.m. when these events we’re happening so I didn’t partake.
So Sunday I was driving back to Brooklyn and although it was the NYC Marathon, I was determined not to get stuck in traffic so I was on the road at 7 a.m. I was nervous about hitting massive amounts of traffic but got lucky. I sailed right into BK by 11:30. I could see the marathon runners from various points once I got in the city but wanted to get home because my IKEA furniture was being delivered. I attempted to turn down roughly 30 streets but each were blocked off and the NYPD stood firm at the blockades.
I pulled over, told the cop where I lived and was informed that I wouldn’t be getting home till 3:00 p.m. So what’s a girl to do?
Rather than get flustered, I parked my car, grabbed some clothes and makeup, went into my gym, freshened up, changed and had a lovely afternoon watching the marathon and eating vegan jambalaya!
Watching the marathon was so amazing, inspiring and exciting. I really would love to run it next year! We shall see 😉
Tonight I took an unexpected walk over the Brooklyn Bridge.
How about my Canon Power Shot? I’m impressed.
It’s been a long day and I was excited to come home to this …
Two eggs w 1/3 cup whites, onions, spinach, Morning Star spicy black bean burger and LOTS of salsa. And now I’m sitting on my bed, drinking peppermint tea and watching Will and Grace. (it’s the one where they’re at Vince’s house for Thanksgiving, one of my favorites)
Good night 🙂
Watching an exciting race like that always gets me in the mood to run more.
OMG, I am sure it would be SO inspiring to watch the NYC marathon. And, I can’t imagine a better way to see the city!
What a lovely, weekend lady – you deserved it!
